Jess Withers is a local artist from Llanelli. She graduated from Carmarthen School of Art in 2017 with a BA in Fine Art (drawing, painting and printmaking). In 2020, Jess also went on to graduate from Swansea College of Art with an MA in fine art - contemporary dialogues. Just as Jess finished her Masters degree, everything was suddenly put on pause due to the coronavirus pandemic.

 

Jess’ work is personal, exploring the Llanelli area (home) and also looking at the issues that face society today and how it affected our local environment. She is inspired by the modernist period and more strongly influenced by process, colour and shapes. Jess is primarily a painter but is versatile, she enjoys using photography and printmaking as part of her development process of painting.

 

Jess has won several fine art awards, including the “Jessica Knowles Colour Painting Award” at the end of her Bachelors degree. Jess is now a graduate member at Y Ty Celf - The Art House and is slowly regaining confidence to re-enter the art scene to pick up where she left off in 2020.
